internal family systems | joseph crick ma, (psy)

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is an evidence-based approach that views the mind as a system of different "parts", much like a family. You might recognise this when you say, "A part of me wants to take this risk, but another part is terrified." In our sessions, we identify internal roles—such as the protective parts that keep you safe or the wounded parts that carry past pain—and learn to understand them, and help them to work together.

The goal of IFS is to help you access the calm, curious, and courageous core of who you are (what IFS calls the Self). As you learn to lead from this core, you can begin to heal your wounded parts and resolve the internal conflicts that lead to anxiety, depression, or relationship issues. This process shifts you from being overwhelmed by your wounds to feeling more balanced, self-compassionate, and in control of your life.
