I lost a child when I was a young man in my twenties. Having left a religious cult and my family behind me when I was 18, I had little support, and no clue how to handle what had happened. I faced deep depression, isolation, confusion, overwhelm and many other devastating emotions. I pushed forward, held my grief down, and did my best to cope.
Life moved on, and I faced more—the loss of a marriage and a father. And I spent several years battling a chronic illness that was directly linked to the silent grief I'd been holding. It wasn't until I had the courage to step into my own losses that I started to heal. Through it all, I learned that there is hope, there is a way forward, and life can open up to you again.
